About CFE
What is the Center for Entrepreneurship?The Center for Entrepreneurship (CFE), under the auspices of the Macklin Business Institute at Montgomery College, capitalizes on the best that education, business, technology, and civic responsibility have to offer. The CFE serves as an educational, training, and enterprise resource for students and the business community, and provides a catalyst for growing business and entrepreneurial education. Students and business leaders alike have developed entrepreneurial skills through the CFE's activities. The CFE partners with the local business community to provide a wealth of services, including: conferences on small business planning and creation, economic development, and venture capital; state-of-the-art resource support for growing companies; opportunities for business leaders to mentor students; and executive-level training for CEOs and their teams.
Reaching out to the Business Community
The CFE offers a variety of non-credit courses and advanced business offerings - such as in business ethics, raising venture capital, and international market development - to further assist entrepreneurs while developing their business plans. In addition, the CFE can assist in development integrating students into the economic base of the county, as well as for general entrepreneurship development.
Some of the services that the CFE has provided include:
- Supporting Montgomery College's business program initiatives and outreach
- Acting as a catalyst for enterprise development of the Biotech, Information Technology, Manufacturing, and Service sectors of the local economy
- Assisting in the development of entrepreneurial business programs and curricula for business owners, managers, scientists, and students
- Helping to develop a unique entrepreneurial growth company database
- Providing entrepreneurs with linkages to regional and national early-stage capital sources
- Conducting "first look" business plan screening and assessments
